Separate studio apartment above garage with its own entrance at the Historic Welsh Stewart House. Great light with windows on three sides. Parking on site and access to the wrap around porch. Living/dining area, galley kitchen, full bed, full bath. It is similar to an efficiency apartment. The shower is in the main room and there is a privacy screen to go in front of it. The toilet and sink are in a separate room. Our guests have not had an issue with the setup. WE are serious about cleaning. Everything is cleaned and sanitized and the linens/towels are professionally laundered off-site. Your safety is our concern! It's like staying in a tree house with light coming in from windows on 3 sides. It's very casual and a true studio - living, dining, bed, kitchen, and bath areas are all open to each other. Everyone that has stayed there seems to enjoy it. We live on-site in a separate suite in the back of the home. We are here if you need us but we do not hover so you'll probably not see us! The house is considered the gateway to the residential area to the west. Families are always walking by on their way to uptown Oxford or just taking a stroll. It's a very friendly open atmosphere where everyone is welcome. The apartment complex to the east rents mainly to families - this is not a student rental area. Fast food restaurants such as Taco Bell, Arby's, Pizza Hut, LaRosa's are very close by on Lynn Ave. Our favorite Uptown restaurants are Left Field Tavern (in the west park on the square) and Paesano's (on Campus Ave.). Patterson's Cafe at Stewart Square on Spring St. is the best place to get brunch. Cru in Stewart Square in a great place to have a glass of wine and some adult conversation. The Butler County Regional Transit Authority runs the student bus service to and from Miami's campus and various spots around Oxford. There is stop at the Arby's corner, not even a block away. I think the rate for non-students is $2 a trip.
