Deer Woods Cabin near Custer, SD sits on five pine-covered acres in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Minutes from Custer, you will feel miles away watching wild turkeys, deer, and star-studded night skies among the pines. The cabin provides all household amenities: 2 queens and 1 twin bed, combined living/dining, full kitchen, washer and dryer, HVAC, gas fireplace, propane grill, propane fire pit, deck, fenced-in yard, insulated dog kennels, and covered parking. Loft steps require some agility. We know how important it is to bring your fur babies along on family vacation. (we take dogs only). Whether your dog loves to swim in the lake, (maybe even learn to paddle board) play in the grass, join you for a hike, or just nap in the sun, they will love Deer Woods Cabin. There’s plenty of space for your dog to have the time of their life, and there are a few dog-friendly restaurants in the area. Our pet-friendly cabin rentals allows your whole family to experience the area with the most value possible. We do not charge extra for your dogs. They are included as a part of your family. You will have access to the entire cabin and fenced yard. Wood fire pit located in an open area is also available to camper guests. I live in the home located at the entrance of the property. If you need assistance please do not hesitate to reach out to me. The cabin is located in the forest just outside of Custer. This area consists of properties ranging from 5-20 acres. The majority of neighbors are full time residents. A few are summer cabins. The road into the area is a private road. Please drive slowly, watch for deer as well as people and dogs walking. Sound carries in the forest -- please respect the neighbors by honoring quiet time after 10 p.m. If you bring a motorcycle or ATV -- please drive slowly on the private road. CONVENIENT LOCATION Just outside the city limits of Custer, Deer Woods Cabin is located within a short drive of many Black Hills attractions: Custer City - 5 minutes Mickelson Trail - 5 minutes Custer State Park - 10 minutes Crazy Horse Memorial - 15 minutes Mount Rushmore - 30 minutes Sturgis Motorcycle Rally - 90 minutes Black Elk Peak - 10 minutes Black Hills Playhouse - 20 minutes Dog Policy Try to keep dogs off furniture. If your dog won't cooperate -- please cover the furniture and vacuum the furniture upon checking out. Please do not allow your dog in the bedroom nor the loft. Do not leave your pet alone and uncrated in the cabin. (If you need a crate, I am happy to loan you one.) You are welcome to use the outdoor kennel as needed. Please be a good neighbor and adjust accordingly depending on your dog’s likelihood to bark and annoy the neighbors. Pick up after dogs daily. Dog waste can is located near the outdoor kennel. Please do NOT bathe your dog inside the cabin. Unless inside fenced area, keep dogs leashed. Wood Camp Fire Use Rules * Note: During High Forest Risk Fire declarations, use of the wood fire pit is not allowed. (You may use the propane fire pit located on cabin deck.) With owner permission you may use the wood fire pit as long as you are a safe and good neighbor. Please follow these guidelines. * Campfires only in the established fire pit * You are welcome to burn all the pinecones you can find, but please do not burn rubbish or other material that will cause excessive smoke * Watch the weather and avoid campfires in gusty or high wind conditions * Keep fire size under control and well within the confines of the fire ring * Keep a full 5 gallon bucket of water near the fire * Ensure fire is out before you leave the area. Never leave it unattended. * * * * *Smoldering fires are prohibited. Do Not Pet the Fluffy Cows. The bison roam free in Custer State Park (located just 3.5 miles east of the cabin.) Visit the park to experience the wildlife - but please respect the wildlife. Do not approach bison. Each year a few visitors do not heed this warning and get too close. Trust me .. it does not end well for the human.
